Review: Primark Beauty Nail Polish!

Hello there!
When i've been in Primark lately (and that's quite a lot, I am a shopaholic after all!) i keep noticing the new Primark Beauty range, they do eyeshadows, lipglosses and nail varnishes and, of course, the nail varnishes are what kept catching my eye! (although there is some gorgeous glitter eyeshadows but i've got a feeling that the pigmentation would be awful, but i might try them at some point, knowing me!)
They do a set of nude/gold ones with a glitter topcoat, a set of neon colours and the one that i've bought;
A pretty set of Spring pastels!! Everything your nail wardrobe needs for this sweltering weather we're having :)
This is a gorgeous mid purpley-blue hue, i really like it! I've had a nail varnish similar to this before, but that's only because i've got about 150 nail varnishes, i think this is a very rare type of colour and not many people would own one like it! Unfortunately they don't have names for the individual colours but i christen this one ''Purple Rain'', just because it reminds me of the colour of a stormy night!

This is a super cute mint green colour! Everyone should own this colour for Spring, it's so perfect, it just screaaaams ''beer garden in the sunshine'' or ''leisurely stroll in the park''.
It's not too bright either unlike some mint greens so if you're a bit afraid of bright colour this is the perfect way to dip your toe into the trend! I christen this colour ''Mint Choc Chip Icecream''.

I have quite a few pale pinks but this one is a bit different to them all, it has a slightly bright undertone than all the others making it more ''zingy'' than your average pale pink, which might not be to everyones taste but it is to mine! This shall be named ''Popping Pink''!

This is a really hard colour to explain! It's somewhere between a raspberry pink, a magenta pink and a coral! Really quite unusual, but lovely all the same.
It would look so good with a tan! It's a little bit draining on paler skin but maybe if you have longer nails than my little stumps it could still work well!
I nickname this ''Raspberry Jam''!

I must say i think my favourite is the pale pink, something about it is very appealing to me!
I have to be honest, i didn't hold out much hope for these nail varnishes, i thought the formula would be thin and it would take forever to build up, but how wrong i was!
Shows how sometimes these on-a-whim purchases can pay off!
The formula is thick, as thick as some brands that are triple the price, and colours such a ''Raspberry Jam'' and ''Purple Rain'' were opaque in one coat! But obviously the paler ones needed two coats, which is still brilliant for pale nail varnishes! I have a Nails Inc nail varnish (Warwick Avenue) that's a pale pink and it takes me literally 6 coats to get it opaque and true to the bottle so these are phenomenal!
I've had them on a day so far and they haven't chipped, without a topcoat, the only thing i would say is drying time is a little bit longer due to the thickness of the formula, but as long as you're either patient or use a quick drying top coat you'll be sound as a pound!
Speaking of pounds, as you can see on the front of the box, these only cost £2 for 4 polishes, which is such superb value!
To round up, i would definitely recommend these to anyone, they're perfect for this season and i can't wait to get my hands on some other colours (I'm thinking the neon ones next!).
Will you be looking out for these in Primark?
Thanks for reading!!

Cheers To The Freakin' Weekend!

I'll drink to that, yeaaahh!
Although to be honest, i'll drink to pretty much anything :) haha.
Thought i'd fill you all in on my weekend!
In the day i went for a shopping trip in Middlesbrough with my boyfriend, i didn't take any pictures when we were out and about but i did do a FOTD before i left;
Foundation -  The Eraser by Maybelline. Eyes - MUA Heaven and Earth palette, Maxfactor False Lash Effect mascara. Cheeks - MUA blusher in shade 4, W7 blush in Angel & Maxfactor bronzer in Golden. Lips - Collection 2000 lipstick in Orange Punch.
I LOVE this colour, it's so orange it's almost red, if you get what i mean?! haha, such a gorgeous pop of colour for a sunny day :) And as you can see, i've been on the St Moriz tanning mousse, i
I only bought a lint roller (anyone who has cats will understand these are a MUST, black clothes + cat hairs = LINT ROLLER NEEDED haha), a black vest and the dress you'll see me wearing in later pictures :)
On Saturday night i went out with my best friends Emma and Frances, we intended to have a classy cocktail night but safe to say we ended up dancing to Vengaboys in a less than classy pub and drinking from a fishbowl by midnight!!
FOTD first;
Same foundation and cheeks as before. Eyes - Heaven and Earth palette and Rimmel Exaggerate eyeliner, with Eylure double lashes. Lips - 17 Supreme Shine lipstick in Barely Blush.
And now some fun pics!
My dress is from Primark and it was a bargain-oso at only £6!! I have this dress in black too, it's gorgeous, be perfect for summer and really pops with a tan :)
Then today (Sunday) i just chilled really! Was up and about really early and me and my boyfriend drove to McDonalds and bought a sausage and egg mcmuffin (LUSH) then I popped into town and bought some cake mix to do some baking with, helped by my boyfriend.
Aren't you impressed by our baking SKILLZ? Course you are, you're only human....;)
How was your weekend? Comment below telling me what you got upto :)
Hope you're all well!

My eBay listing spree!

Hello there munchkins!!
I've listed some things on eBay and thought you might all like to have a little look-see through them :) I will do a blog sale soon, it's just getting round to it haha!
Here's the link to my eBay (StarrySkies14), happy looking :D

My Nail Lacquer Lust List!

Bonjour mon petit-pois!!
Any regular readers of my blog will know that i have a problem, and that problem is nail varnishes! I have WELL over 100, but i still want more! So this is a list of the polishes that are tooting my horn, and most likely finding their way into my virtual shopping basket, right now!

China Glaze - Hunger Games Collection in Fast Track.
If you've read the Hunger Games books hopefully you will know what a brilliant trilogy they are, i really enjoyed them, they hooked me so much i read them in about 2 days each!!
So obviously mix Hunger Games with China Glaze and i'm a very happy bunny!
The colours were a bit of a disappointment to me actually, there's a decent orange glitter but i already have one of them from W7, and a cool glitter topcoat, but i don't need another one of them! haha but this gorgeous shimmery taupe colour is unusual and also sophisticated, i love it!

Models Own - Juicy Jules.
Lots of people have talked about this nail varnish in the blog world, it's basically a holographic silver glitter! Glitters are notoriously sparse and take forever to layer up so i'd recommend layering this over a silver nail varnish so you don't have to use as many layers of this to make it opaque :) I'm not a massive fan of Models Own nail varnishes, they chip too easily, but the glitters are decent.

17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish - Juicy.
I love 17 cosmetics, they're so affordable and great quality and the new Spring colours are so pretty!
As far as i can see there's 3 of them, a pearly pink colour, a metallic peach and this gorgeous zesty lime colour! It has a shimmer running through it when it's on the nail and is perfect for Spring/Summer, let the sun shine!

Barry M - Strawberry Icecream.
I've got such a THING for pastels at the moment, i just bought a pale pink from Collection 2000 but i think this one from Barry M would be a better formula, as much as i love Collection 2000 nail polishes you just can't beat Barry M!!

OPI - Muppets Collection in the shade Excuse Moi.
I know these Muppets nail varnishes have been out ages, and i do have Rainbow Connection which i LOVE, but i still haven't got round to buying the ones that i want.
This is a gorgeous red glitter with some silver and holographic glitter running through it, really eye catching!

OPI - Muppets Collection in the shade Divine Swine.
Isn't this just the prettiestttttt?
Fine purple/pink glitter with large bits of silver glitter running through it, like most glitters it would take a while to build it up but you could always put it over a purple nail varnish :)

Ciate - Jewel.
I've seen swatches of this and it is one of the glitteriest glitters i've ever seen!! So pretty.
As you've probably gleaned, i have a bit of a softness for glitter haha.

Revlon - Top Speed in Peachy.
I'm a bit of a coral obsessive so as you can imagine, i love this! I don't own many Revlon nail varnishes but the ones i do i really like the formulas of.

Accessorize - Illusion range in Gold Dust.
Accessorize nail varnishes are my favourite formula ever! Plus the colours are really innovative, lot's of duochromes and glitters.
My friend has this glitter and it's so pretty on her, i've coveted it for ages!!

Which nail varnishes are on your must have list at the moment? :)
Thanks for reading cream buns!!

FOTD!

Hello my pretties!
I haven't done a FOTD for a while so i thought i'd do one while i was trying to use some old makeup that usually gets consigned to the back of my makeup collection in favour of my failsafes :)
Firstly the makeup i wore to go to town yesterday with my friend Frances, getting our Mothers Day presents a bit late, whoopsie!!
On my eyes i used the 3 lightest golds from the MUA Heaven & Earth palette, which i tend to shun in favour of my Sleek palettes (Storm & Nude), and i loved the effect! Sometimes darker brown eyes are so much harder to find lip colours to match them but with a nice light gold eye it was so easy! I used the lightest of the golds all over my lids and then used a slightly darker one in the outside corners and blended it up towards my browbone just to give it a bit more depth.
The blush i'm wearing is MUA in shade 1 and it was only £1! i LOVE these blushers, i only own two but i'm definitely going to buy more because this one has quickly become my go-to blush, i'll show you swatches and what-not when i feature it in a upcoming collective haul :)
And the lipstick is from a collection called Maybelline Moisture Exteme lipstick and you might have seen The Sunday Girl reviewing these lipsticks if you follow her blog (which you should, she's ace!) and she had nothing but good things to say about them so i thought, seen as i'm a sucker for corals, i'd buy one in Peach Colada! Now these are discontinued now, but i bought mine off eBay for £1.49! It's sold out from the seller i bought it from but you can always have a search around on there, there's plenty more :)

Heck that was a ramble!! Now for another ;)
I did another muted brown eye, this time with the browny/khaki from my Topshop Smokey Eye palette.
Same blush as the previous look, Loreal Infallible foundation in the shade Porcelain, Dream Matte Mousse Concealor (now discontinued, *SADFACE*), MaxFactor False Lash Effect mascara, 17 eyebrow definer pencil on my eyebrows and on my lips i've got the gooorgeous Sleek sheen lipstick in Peaches & Cream, it's such a pretty light peach colour and really glossy but i wouldn't recommend this if you are a bit older, because it sunk into any wrinkles on my lips so imagine it would be a lot worse the more wrinkles you have!

Have you got any makeup recommendations you'd like to throw my way? All are welcome!
Hope you enjoyed :)

Lush Bubble Bar: Magic Mushroom!

Hello fellow shroom lovers!
Only of the bubble bar variety of course!
This is a really cute red and white spotted mushroom which has a strawberry and vanilla scent!
This was limited edition for Valentines Day, i don't think you can still get it which is a shame but there's always next year!
I used about a third of the bubble bar in the bath (as shown in the first picture!) and to be honest the amount of bubbles was disappointing :( They were gorgeous fluffy bubbles, and the water went a nice light red colour but the amount of bubbles was just a let down for me! and the facts they had disappeared completely after i'd been in the bath for about ten minutes :( It smelt gorgeous though, if you're a fan of warm vanilla scents (like little old me!) i'd definitely recommend this :) just maybe use half the bubble bar to get a substantial amount.
These are £2.45 each so pretty cheap for a bubble bar!
Thanks for reading munchkins!!

Guest Post : Top 10 Trends for Nails for Spring 2012!

Hello! At Cosmetics Shopping and Intoxication (CSI for short) we are a blogging duo obsessed with beauty products and the chemicals they contain. We met at Uni doing Forensic Science degrees hence calling ourselves CSI beauty blog :)

Because we're a duo, we decided to do a top 10 nail trends for Spring, and do 5 each as we both have our own different styles.

Hope you enjoy!

 1. Glitter nails: I don't know about you but I absolutely love glitter, especially when like this one it has different sized pieces! Glitter is a top banana for Spring, and thank god, cos I'm obsessed with this one! It's by Saffron and you can find it on eBay for a measly £2, winner! I used No7 So Simple as a nude base colour:

2. Nail art: Nail art is not going anywhere any time soon! I like to keep things quite simple normally, but with pastel shades being high on the hit list for Spring 2012, I did my own take on them using my favourite metallic from Model’s Own. For this I used Barry M's 304 Mint Green, Models Own Champagne and 17 Lasting Fix in Fairy Cake:

 3. Dotting tool: A new addition to my nail kit that I can see getting a lot of use out of! As I said above, I like simple colours and patterns, so for my dotting tool design I used Model's Own Champagne (again!) with Nails Inc's Black Taxi to do the dots, I quite like the effect!

 4. Save/Spend/Splurge: We've all done it at some point, bought the most expensive nail varnish just because we could! But there's plenty of other options...one of Spring's top colours is lilac and here's a range of nail products that you could buy depending on your budget: (All photos taken from producers website)
Save: Barry M's 308 Berry Ice Cream £2.99
Spend: Nails Inc's Lowndes Square £11
Splurge: Dior Vernis Forget me Not £16.50

  5. Most grabbed for shade: Last Spring I wore this colour to death! The bottle is almost empty now, and I'm even tempted to repurchase. It goes with everything, does need 3 coats to be opaque but it's worth it I think!
Natural Collection: Antique Coral

6. Glitter  Nail
I love applying the glitter to the cuticle area and fading it up. Glitter is a pain to remove but how amazing it looks out weighs that for me. I used Natural Collection Antique Coral, these are a bargain and only £1.89 the coverage did take three coats but I love the slightly muted orange tone of it. The pink glitter is Chine Glaze Doll House and a definite favourite of both of ours. The silver glitter I love as it has different sizes of glitter. It’s a brand called saffron and I picked it up cheap from Amazon.

 7. Nail Art
I saw a design similar to this on my favourite nail art blog, polishyoupretty. It’s a fading pink into bright pink, great to get you from nudes into bright pinks, ready for summer. It looks great with any colour as long as you have four varying shades. You just need a steady hand or you can line the nails with tape to get a neater line. I didn’t quite have the medium pink I needed for this look. Nail varnish used China Glaze Secret Admirer, Avon Rose Quartz, OPI Strawberry Margarita and Nails Inc Piccadilly Circus

8. The dotting Tool
These can be picked up cheaply from ebay or you can just use a Kirby grip to get the same effect. With dotting tools there are a variety of different designs you can achieve using it. As it’s spring I decided to do a daisy design on my ring finger and thumb. I prefer to do it on just a few fingers as a statement but it’s simple enough to do on all of them. I used OPI Strawberry Margarita for the base coat, OPI Apline Snow for the petals, Dior Water lily for the stems and an American brand for the lilac, not sure of the name sorry.

9. Save, Spend, Splurge
Nothing says spring like a pastel green to me. These are some of my favourite shades for different budgets. Elf Mint Cream, China Glaze Re-fresh Mint and Dior Waterlily. I’m lucky enough to own Dior waterlily and I can’t wait to purchase the Elf nail polish to try out

10. Most grabbed for Spring Polish
For me at the moment I am loving blue polishes. My favourite for spring is China Glaze Secret Periwinkle. Here it is with a coat of Snow Globe over the top but it’s such a pretty shade on it’s own aswell, reminds me of the hopefully nice blue skies we’ll be having soon.
